Glorybound

Glorybound Music is a southern Gospel band that travels out of our church. . .

Glorybound is a Maine based Southern Gospel singing group that was formed in the mid 80’s. The group was made up of our daughter Dawn who started singing at an early age with sound tracs at “Gospel Music Nites” that were held every Friday night at different churches. About 10 years ago, she expressed an interest in joining the group and became our lead singer.

Retta, my wife of 43 years, is one of the original members of the group and began singing in churches at a young age with her aunts in a girl’s trio. She sings alto and is a vital part of the group. She is also an ordained minister and does the talking for the group.

Rick is also an original member of the group. He has played the accordion for many years but only started singing about 6 years ago when the group had to restructure because one of the singers had to leave the group due to illness

In 2005 there was another change in the group. Dawn has gone to Boston to do an internship with the Assemblies of God. She is training with Chi Alphia to be a campus missionary. They work on college campuses to spread the word of God .She is at M.I.T. in Cambridge, Mass. and will be coming back to Maine where she’ll have an office at Husson College. In May of 2005 she graduated from Husson with a bachelors of science degree in Physiology, where she was instrumental in organizing a Chi Alphia ministry on campus.

At that time we thought that our ministry was over but the Lord has supplied us with some wonderful new material. Two songwriters have sent up about 30 new songs that have never been recorded. Also they sent studio sound track, lyrics and full permission to use the songs. This includes recording them. We have learned some of them and have been doing concerts since Nov. 2005. Souls are being Saved and we are being rebooked so I guess the Lord is not done with us yet, so, we are going to keep on keeping on till he come. We also had a new prison open up to our ministry. We have been there twice and have had 11 souls save, Praise God.

Glorybound’s purpose is to glorify our Lord Jesus Christ, spread the Gospel, lift up the saints of God and to help and encourage pastors. We travel all up and down the east coast of the U. S. and into Canada praising our Lord through music and song.

Glorybound has appeared on radio, in churches of all denominations, nursing homes, Veteran’s homes, Children’s homes, prisons, as well as parks, fairs, camp meetings, wedding receptions, town celebrations, Gospel Jubilees, restaurants, flea markets and international festivals. We mainly go anywhere that God opens a door. We also work with the Reaching Truckers for Christ ministry here in Maine and Transport for Christ in other states.

For the past 14 years we have done 3-4 concert tour down south each year. States we have ministered in are: N.H. Vt. Conn. R.I. N.Y. N.J. Md. VA. N.C. S.C. Tenn. KY Ga. and Eastern Canada.
We also promote Southern Gospel Music here in Maine and are seeing more and more people coming to know Jesus as their personal Savior through the Gospel that they are hearing in the words of the songs
We’ve recorded 3 Gospel albums with Tim Greene at The Loft recording studio in Boone, N. C. Included on the albums are several original songs that have been written especially for us. Each and every song is chosen to minister. We feel that if a song ministers to us, then it will minister to others.

After going to the Greene’s Jubilee 12 years ago, the Lord put it upon my heart to have one here in Maine. This has been a Big step of faith financially for us each year, however, God owns it all and with His help, souls have been saved and Christians lifted up. In the past 9 years, the GLORYBOUND GOSPEL JUBILEE has grown and we are praying this year for the following:
1.) Souls to be saved
2.) Good weather
3.) For enough people to come that we might break even financially
Please be in prayer with us for Maine’s largest Gospel Music event.

2008 date is: June 19, 20, 22 & 23
